About this event

This session explores the role of solar PV in residential retrofit – examining when, why, and how it can deliver real benefits for residents and social housing providers. We’ll cover the key technical principles, financial implications, and behavioural considerations, helping stakeholders and engagement teams build a clear, evidence-based case for solar.

Agenda:

  • Setting the context: Why solar PV is relevant in a social housing setting, particularly in relation to energy affordability, comfort, and decarbonisation goals.
  • Technical overview: How solar PV works, what it generates, and the potential impact on household energy bills.
  • Maximising benefits: Practical ways to support residents in making the most of their solar system, including battery storage, energy habits, and use for heating and hot water.
  • Policy and future integration: Understanding the Smart Export Guarantee, how payments apply in social housing, and how solar can integrate with EV charging and whole-house retrofit strategies.
  • Key takeaways and signposting for further support

This event will be hosted online on Microsoft Teams and a link to join the event is included on Eventbrite.
