Event description

Description

Relevant for:

All businesses and all professionals. Cyber-crime can be a quick and effective way to significantly compromise your business or personal life. We all need the best knowledge and support in order to protect ourselves from these dangers.

Speaker

Digital PCSO Matt Hough-Clewes (Regional Cyber Crime Unit)

The Regional Cyber Crime Unit (RCCU) investigates the serious criminal activity surrounding cyber-crime such as high-end, extensive computer fraud and identity theft. RCCU also brings cyber skills and e-forensic support to the investigation of serious and organised crime as part of WMROCU investigations.

Background

This is a special event with a presentation by the Regional Cyber Crime Unit (RCCU) illustrates what can happen and what we can do. This event has come about via recommendation from a business that setup this presentation, by the Regional Crime Unit, for themselves which they found very enjoyable, relevant and thought provoking.

Highly relevant presentation on Cyber-crime and how it impacts our business. Matt brings many case studies that will get you thinking. The threat is broad these days from direct attacks leading to data breaches or loss of service or both. Indeed attacks could be indirect such on infrastructure that we share with others such as communications or cloud services. What are these threats, how can we protect against them and more importantly how are the security services involved in helping us stay safe.

Matt Hough-Clewes is a Cyber Protect Officer within the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit (WMROCU).

WMROCU has the responsibility of protecting the communities in the West Midlands from serious organised crime.

Matt will be talking about the current cyber threat landscape, threats, countermeasures and the UK Cyber Strategy, whilst also providing some local case studies.

We also live in times where we could be affected by state actors invoking Cyber-attacks. Should we be worried? How can we protect our businesses?

He will conclude with some advice around what businesses and the public can do to protect themselves against a cyber-attack.

We look forward to seeing you on 25th April at 6.30pm.
