Solent NHS Trust Research and Improvement Conference 2017

'Evidence Matters'. This year we will be showcasing and celebrating our improvement work.

We will have a range of interactive workshops, presentations and networking opportunities.

Our conference is planned in partnership with our patient and public involvement group and we're working for accreditation as a "PatientsIncluded" event .. for us, this means:

1. Patients or caregivers with experience relevant to the conference’s central theme actively participate in the design and planning of the event, including the selection of themes, topics and speakers Our patient ambassadors have been fully involved in the planning of the the event; have led our design of it & been instrumental in how the day runs (to ensure it is accessible)
2. Patients or caregivers with experience of the issues addressed by the event participate in its delivery, and appear in its physical audience. Our patient ambassadors will open and close the event, chair the sessions, and present the prizes (which they judged). The event is open to all of our patients and communities, and has been advertised widely
   
3. Travel and accommodation expenses for patients or carers participating in the advertised programme are paid in full, in advance. Scholarships are provided by the conference organisers to allow patients or carers affected by the relevant issues to attend as delegates.The event is open to all patients and the public for free and transport to the venue is available to them with no charge.
4. The disability requirements of participants are accommodated. All applicable sessions, breakouts, ancillary meetings, and other programme elements are open to patient delegatesWe have chosen a venue that is accessible, have a hearing loop, and have a pt designed flag warning system if the langauge becomes too complex or jargonistic. We have a quiet space upstairs for anyone that needs some time away from the 'hub bub'
5. Access for virtual participants is facilitated,[5] with free streaming video provided online wherever possible. We are working with 'beyondtheroom' to live stream the event for those that cannot be there in person
   

It is a truly patient led event... looking forward to seeing you there.

We understand that some patient and public members wishing to attend may find a full day too long, or have carer commitments. If you would like to attend just part of the day, you are still welcome to book. Please just let us know what part of the day you intend on coming to, so we can arrange our catering appropriately, by emailing us on research@solent.nhs.uk
