Solstice Shorts Festival 2015: Longest Night
Event Information
Description
The Winter Solstice falls on Monday 21st December and we will be having an evening event to celebrate what is also Short Story Day, with stories poems and music to celebrate on the theme of the Longest Night.
We will be at the beautiful West Greenwich Library from 19:00 to 22:30 (we really wanted it to be dawn, but that’s plain silly on a weekday and not fair on the library staff, and half ten allows people to get the last train).
Music will be supplied by
Ian Kennedy & Sarah Lloyd folk duo, singers and multi-instrumentalists, with a fine line in lullabies, which we hope will feature in their plans.
Vassilis Chatzimakris Trio Cretan songs about the night in all its rich variety.
Vocal Chords Local community choir with a strong gutsy approach to traditional folk carols and other songs of winter and darkness.
We have stories from David Mathews, David McVey, Frances Gapper, Neil Brosnan, Pauline Walker, Sarah Evans, Wendy Gill.
and poems from Abigail Beckel, Bob Beagrie, Sarah James.
