About this event

    Important Information:

    This is a short Online Self-Study qualification course 9approx 4 hours). It can be started anytime and accessed (via a learning portal) at times/days to suit you.

    Register your interest and we will email you an application form - learning cannot be started until this form is completed and submitted.

    Once this is done, we will send information on how to access the learning portal.

    You can only apply for one course at a time however upon completion you can enrol on a further course.

    To be eligible for this course you must:

    • Be aged 19+ on the 31/08/2024
    • Live in the UK for 3 years/live in UK from EEA or have *pre-settlement or *Settled status from the Home Office (*proof required)
    • Due to Government funding criteria, we are unable to accept learners who live in London, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland, Ireland or a devolved postcode areas. Please check with us if you are unsure.


    Course Details

    This short course will build your knowledge of how to define, investigate and analyse problems and how to evaluate your options.

    This self-study bite-sized course is interactive and flexible giving you the ability to study at your convenience at a time and day suitable to you.

    What You Will Learn:

    Whether you are an individual wanting to progress in their career, or an employer looking to upskill staff, skills in problem solving and decision making are a key element for any team leader or management role. It covers subjects such as defining, investigating and analysing problems, data and information, evaluating problems, and planning techniques.

    • Defining, investigating, and analysing problems: In this section, you will learn how to describe a problem, its nature, scope and impact.
    • Data and information: You will discover how to gather and interpret information to identify possible solutions to a problem.
    • Evaluating options: This section covers how to evaluate options to make a decision. You will also learn about decision making techniques to evaluate options to arrive at the best solution.
    • Planning techniques: You will cover how to plan, monitor and review the implementation and communication of decisions.

    This course is a fully online, self-directed, independent study course. Students must have use of a laptop to complete this course and must meet the eligibility criteria.
