Solving the sensory puzzle: A 3-Part workshop series for parents & carers

Cost: £75 for the whole series

Hosted by: Katy Fox, Specialist Occupational Therapist, and Chrissy Dickens, Psychological Therapist and Neurodevelopmental Coach

Are you a parent or carer of a pre-schooler or primary school aged child who seems overwhelmed by certain textures, noises, or environments—or perhaps they’re constantly seeking movement, touch, or sensory input? Are you wondering how to better understand and support your child’s unique sensory needs?

This three-part workshop series is designed to help you explore, understand, and confidently respond to your child’s sensory world. Feel free to contact us on help@pathwaysts.co.uk with any queries.

What’s this workshop about?

In collaboration, Katy (our specialist Occupational Therapist) and Chrissy (our Founder, Psychological Therapist and Neurodevelopmental coach) will guide you through the often-misunderstood world of sensory processing—what it is, how it shapes your child’s experience of the world, and how it links to emotions, behaviour, and relationships.

Whether your child has a diagnosis, is on a waiting list, or simply shows signs of sensory sensitivities, this series is here to empower you with insightful knowledge and practical tools. We want you to leave feeling heard, more confident to understand your child’s sensory processing needs and equipped with new ideas and strategies to try out with renewed energy!

Workshop 1: What is 'Sensory Processing'? (10:00 - 11:00, 08/09/2025)

· The 8 sensory systems (yes, there are more than 5!)

· How the brain processes sensory information

· What it looks like when sensory processing is going well and smoothly

· The connection between sensory input, regulation, and emotional well-being

Workshop 2: When sensory needs are unmet (10:00 - 11:00, 15/09/2025)

Explore:

· What it looks like when children are overwhelmed or under-stimulated

· Common sensory processing challenges in children (e.g., sensitivity to sound, touch, or movement)

· How sensory needs can affect behaviour, attention, sleep, and relationships

· The emotional toll for children—and for parents too

Workshop 3: Practical strategies for everyday life (10:00 - 11:00, 22/09/2025)

Walk away with:

· Tailored, child-centred strategies to support sensory regulation

· Tools to help your child feel safe, connected, and calm

· Simple home and school adaptations that really make a difference

· A compassionate, non-judgmental approach to parenting through a sensory lens
