We are excited to welcome Dr. Hodan Osman who is a major leading scholar of African studies in China. Dr. Hodan Osman is the vice director of the center for African film and television research in the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, China. Dr. Osman's documentary 'Africans in Yiwu' which entails the lives of 18 individuals from different parts of Africa in which she also starred as one of the two members from Somalis. Dr. Hodan Osman's documentary is a rare opportunity that allows the Somali, African and International community in London to break away from some of the misguided stigmas with regard to the lives of Somali people, and Africans in general in China

On the second part of this evening, saxardiid Jabiye, is one of the leading poets from Somaliland, the only living member of the Walaalaha Hargeisa band and the founder of the first Somali theatre. Jabiye will discuss his experience of the Somali theatre at it is peak and his fascinating artistic journey as a writer of so many iconic songs such as 'Maandeeq' and famous plays from those times. Jabiye's night will be concluded with a concert featuring the very popular UK based singer Sahra Ahmed and Saynab Igeh, both are cherished vocalists from Waaberi band.
