Description

On this night, the platform is given over to young Somali creatives who will delve further into the festival’s themes. Omar Munie, writer and successful accessories designer from the Netherlands, will speak about his inspirational journey from war-torn Somali to living his dream as a successful entrepreneur. Yasin Osman, founder of #ShootForPeace, a youth mentorship program, will talk about his journey to becoming a freelance photographer and one of Toronto’s Top Change Makers’ of 2016. Internationally acclaimed British Somali film director Mo Ali and also a mentor to numerous young London based filmmakers will also share his journey and his motivation. Amina Adan or as many know her as Mina Shoots, a young London based self-taught photography enthusiast, will join what promises to be a lively and inspiring conversation. The evening will end with a performance by Hodan Omar Dhuule, the daughter of one of the greatest Somali musicians, Omar Dhuule, who is popular in the UK, across the Diaspora, and in Germany where she now lives.
