Expand your Skills – Deepen your Practice – Support with Confidence
Now open to all people living with chronic pain, chronic illness or recovering from trauma, as well as professionals who work with them.
This in-person training is for movement & healthcare professionals and experienced movers of any practice who want to meet complexity with clarity, and feel more resourced and grounded in their own practice. Facilitated by Lauren Barri Holstein
Lauren is a movement practitioner, somatic educator, and feminist performance maker with over 25 years of experience in dance, Pilates, and trauma-informed movement practices. Her work is rooted in both rigorous training and deep personal experience: after two decades of undiagnosed chronic pain and years of recovery from trauma-induced illness, Lauren’s relationship with movement – and life – was profoundly transformed. This lived journey now forms the heart of her teaching.
Lauren trained with the Kane School in New York in 2007 and has since worked with a wide range of clients, from elite athletes to those living with chronic pain, neurological diagnoses, and complex health conditions. She brings a responsive, compassionate, and deeply embodied approach to somatic healing, grounded in trust, curiosity, and nervous system awareness.
Lauren also is the director of The Wolf Den, an organisation that teaches embodied consent, sex education and self-care to girls and young women.
Lauren holds a PhD in Contemporary Feminism and Performance from Queen Mary University of London. Her performance work has been presented across the UK and Europe, at venues such as The Barbican, Kampnagel (DE), The and Tate Britain. She has published on feminist embodiment, trauma, and identity politics, and has lectured widely in universities and public forums.
Across all of her work – whether in performance, education, or somatic healing – she is committed to creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through mindful, compassionate, and liberatory movement.
