Overview

A calm, neuroaffirming space for autistic adults to explore somatics and reconnect with the body gently.

About This Workshop

This Somatic Sunday session is an accessible introduction to somatics through an autistic lens — a gentle, body-based approach that supports regulation, sensory trust, and a deeper understanding of how your nervous system communicates.

Somatics isn’t about “fixing” the body or learning to be calm.
It’s about listening, noticing, and reconnecting with your internal experience in ways that feel safe and doable for you.

This workshop is open to all autistic adults (self-identified, questioning, or formally identified). Neurodivergent adults who resonate with this approach are also warmly welcome, though the space and pacing are designed with autistic sensory and processing needs at the centre.

This is not a CPD or professional training. It is a therapeutic, community-focused space.

What We’ll Explore

During this 60-minute live session, we will:

🔹 Learn what somatics is (in plain, autistic-friendly language)

  • What “felt sense” means
  • Why many autistic people feel disconnected from their bodies
  • The impact of masking, overwhelm, and sensory environments on the nervous system

🔹 Try a gentle guided somatic practice

A grounding, choice-based experience such as orienting, sensory tracking, or a body scan with complete autonomy throughout.
Absolutely no requirement to turn your camera on or participate verbally.

🔹 Explore how somatics supports autistic nervous systems

  • Safe / stuck / shutdown states (polyvagal basics)
  • How autistic bodies adapt in a non-autistic world
  • Why rest, pacing, and sensory choice matter

🔹 Reflect and integrate

You’ll be invited to journal or quietly notice what came up, with optional sharing through voice or chat.

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop is created primarily for autistic adults, particularly those who:

  • are late-identified or exploring their autistic identity
  • experience masking, burnout, shutdowns, or high sensitivity
  • struggle with interoception, overwhelm, or body-disconnection
  • want to understand their body’s signals in a safer, more compassionate way
  • prefer gentle, predictable, neuroaffirming spaces
  • feel curious about somatic practices but unsure where to begin

Neurodivergent adults who connect with this lens are warmly welcome, even if autism is not your primary neurotype.

The space is designed specifically with autistic sensory and processing needs at the centre, and may also feel supportive for ADHD, AuDHD, or other ND experiences.
