This month we will be joined by Karen Harris, The Mindful Sage, who will help us to incorporate more mindfulness into our stressful and busy daily lives.
"Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. By being fully present in this way – not forcing things or hiding from them, but actually being with them, we create space to respond in new ways to situations and make wise choices. We may not always have full control over our lives, but with mindfulness we can work with our minds and bodies, learning how to live with more appreciation and less anxiety."

Karen Harris is a registered mindfulness teacher who has been practicing mindfulness since 2010. With a background that included almost 20 years as a registered nurse, Karen found that the mindfulness life skills she learned had such an impact on her life she decided to train to teach them to others. Starting her training at the end of 2012 and achieved her accreditation in 2014, Karen has continued to deepen her practice and her professional development since qualifying and finds that the practices help to support her through the major and minor difficulties she encounters in life.
During the presentation, Karen will explain a little bit about the background to mindfulness - what it is and why it works. She will then also lead a couple of short practices that can be of help when feeling stressed, overwhelmed or anxious.
