Event Details

These well-established Bournemouth University courses attract delegates from most of the major UK companies active in the sonar field, the defence agencies and a growing number of overseas companies.

Event Dates -

Introduction to Sonar 16th and 17th September 2019

Fundamentals of Sonar 18th - 20th September 2019

Times -

09:00 to 16:30 on Monday and Tuesday.

09:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and 09:00 to 13:30 on Friday

The Introduction to Sonar course aims to provide you with a good understanding of the theory and practice of sonar technology, and its applications in the defence industry, environmental surveying and related fields; placing emphasis on the practicalities of sonar systems rather than on rigorous mathematical analysis.

The Fundamentals of Sonar is a three day course intended as a follow-on to the Introduction to Sonar course (though it can, of course, be taken independently). The course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of underwater acoustic principles, sonar technology and applications underpinned by the physical principles and analysis.

Taking the courses consecutively enables delegates to progress from an introductory level through to advanced topics within one week.

These courses are ideal if you require a rapid introduction to sonar technology, its specification and applications, particularly:

  • Hardware and software design engineers new to sonar system design.
  • Naval personnel involved in sonar commissioning or its application.
  • Procurement/purchasing managers requiring to prepare tenders or specifications.
  • Design managers
  • Project managers
  • Installation and maintenance engineers
  • Sales engineers

For further information on these courses either see our webpages regarding the Introduction to Sonar course or the Fundamentals of Sonar course. Alternatively you can contact the course team who are responsible for the course organisation.
