Wed 20 Sep 18.30

FREE Booking essential

Attend a private preview and artist talk for the premier of Song for Armageddon, a new work by Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson, featuring a panel discussion with the artists, composer Ophir Ilzetzki and cinematographer Martin Testar.

A hellish sodium-lit environment provides the setting for Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson’s video installation, Song for Armageddon, which premieres at BALTIC this September. Shot on location in Armageddon, Israel the film sees a group of workers make preparations for the end of the world. The film loops every 17 minutes, creating a powerful visual and acoustic meditation that culminates with a performance by singer Faye Shapiro.

Song for Armageddon is produced by Forma. Created by Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson in collaboration with Ophir Ilzetzki in 2016–17. Cinematography by Martin Testar. Commissioned by Forma and University of Salford Art Collection, in association with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Supported by Arts Council England.
