Enjoy a very special evening with one of Britain's best-loved sopranos, Dame Felicity Lott.

About this Event

Leighton House Museum is delighted to present British soprano Dame Felicity Lott, who will be performing some of her most-beloved songs accompanied by renowned pianist Sebastian Wybrew.

This biographical repertoire will include songs by Gilbert and Sullivan, Franz Lehar, Richard Strauss, Jacques Offenbach, Francis Poulenc and Noël Coward.

The evening:

Doors open at 6:15pm for a complimentary drink in Leighton's Drawing Room.

Concert will start at 7pm in the artist's studio.

About Dame Felicity Lott

Felicity Lott DBE, CBE, was born in Cheltenham, read French and Latin at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and then won a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Academy of Music. She made her début at English National Opera in 1975 and her Glyndebourne Festival début in 1977, singing in almost every subsequent Festival until 1990. She specialises in the operas of Mozart and Strauss and has sung at all the major opera houses of the world: London, Vienna, Milan, Paris, New York, Chicago, Munich, and with many great conductors. She has also toured the world giving song recitals.

She holds Honorary Doctorates from the Universities of Oxford, London, Sussex, Leicester, Loughborough, Gloucester and Paris, she is a Fellow of Royal Holloway College, the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, the RSAMD and the Guildhall School of Music, a Chevalier of the Legion d’Honneur and an Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. She was awarded the Wigmore Medal in 2010 and the ISM Distinguished Musician Award in 2014. Her repertoire ranges from Handel to Britten and from Offenbach to Noel Coward.

About Sebastian Wybrew

Praised for his 'tremendous versatility and sense of colour' (BBC Music Magazine) Sebastian Wybrew gives recitals with many of the UK’s most eminent performers including Dame Felicity Lott, Iestyn Davies and Christopher Maltman. He made his debut at Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Ian Bostridge, and at Wigmore Hall, London with Sophie Bevan. He regularly performs at festivals throughout Europe including Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh, Zaragoza, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorprommen.

He has received acclaim from Classical Music magazine for his recording of Geoffrey Grey’s Partita with trumpeter Simon Cheney. He was awarded the Accompanist Prize at the John Kerr English Song Competition and the Jean Meickle Duo Prize at the 2017 Wigmore Hall Song Competition with Soprano Gemma Summerfield. He has been broadcast live on BBC radio and television and his discography includes 'Songs of Vain Glory' for Wigmore Hall Live and the Osterwald Lieder by Robert Franz.

In much demand as a pedagogue, he has given masterclasses for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Edward Said Conservatory, Palestine and the Fondation Royaumont, France.
