Sonic Disobedience : Vocal Resistance is a workshop which will encourage us to experiment with our voices towards possible future performances, actions and demonstrations using the human voice as a form of resistance.
It is our intention through this workshop to find ways to vocalise our shared anger and rage against all sorts of social injustices, and to develop skills we can utilise on demos and protests in the future.
The workshop will be facilitated by the amazing Phil Minton, longtime performer, improviser, and convener of the Feral Choir, a vocal workshop with non-professionals singers which normally builds to a performance. In the workshop Phil encourages participants to take a vocal leap into the unknown and explore all vocal possibilities through exercises and improvisations to liberate unknown potentials of the human vocal chord.
To participate in a Feral Choir experience is by turns to be amused, moved, disturbed and ultimately to feel liberated, cleansed and empowered.
The workshop will cost £5 waged and £3 non-waged. Places are limited to 25 people for the workshop.
We anticipate the workshop will be popular and will therefore receive a lot of interest.
Please do be mindful if you book a place and can't (for any reason) attend to give us 24 hours notice as we really don't want there to be people that could attend but miss out on this workshop.
