Event description

Join us in Barnstaple for the first of our intensives in 2018.

These events are not teaching-intensive, but encounter-intensive. Building on the experience of the first conference in this series, Engaging The Father*, you should expect to spend time engaging closely with God in your own heart and in the realms of heaven and to undergo a level of transformation which will prepare you for the next stage of your destiny to be fulfilled. This is not intended to be a ministry time, but an equipping.

Depending on God's direction and those taking part, some of the topics we intend to explore together may include:

  • Healing of father wounds

  • Engaging the 4 chambers of the heart

  • Ketubah unveiled

  • Engaging the dark cloud

  • Separating and reintegrating soul and spirit

Sessions will comprise a testimony-based introduction by Mike Parsons and/or others from the ekklesia at Freedom followed by an opportunity for you to engage for yourself. Time will be given for you to journal and reflect on your encounters.

Each day will run from 9.30am to 10pm. Lunch will be provided (please notify us of any dietary requirements when you book). There will be also be a break from around 5.30 to 7.30pm for you to obtain an evening meal (not provided). Please note that the venue will closed during this time each day.

The Freedom Centre is a multi-use facility, and other users will be present elsewhere in the building during the daytime on all three days.

For further information about this and other events, including travel, local accommodation and parking restrictions at the venue, please visit www.freedomarc.org/sonsarise

The introductory part of each session may be recorded, and digital files of all recordings will be made available to all ticketholders after the event free of charge for your personal use. We may also make them available to purchase from our website for others.

*Suitablilty and preparation

Teaching/experience level: intermediate.

We recommend this event for those who already have at least some experience of stepping into the realms of heaven and personal transformation and ideally have attended or worked through the material from the first conference in the Sons Arise series, available for purchase from mid-March 2018 on our website. Before the event, you will also need to go through Mike's teaching on Redemptive Gifts (you can purchase the audio or find the written teaching free on our blog [posts #217-223], together with questionnaires designed to help identify yours).

For those who are with us on the Engaging God programme, it is suitable for those who have completed most of Module 2 (Base Camp) or beyond. For those new to these things, at this stage we suggest you consider signing up for Engaging God instead at www.freedomarc.org/freetrial

In making a booking you confirm that you have read and agree to the Event Terms and Conditions of Freedom Apostolic Ministries Limited.

Is Sons Arise just for men?

No, it’s for men and women! We don’t say ‘daughters’ because in the Hebrew tradition daughters did not obtain an inheritance. If men can be ‘the bride’ then certainly women can be sons.

Where is the event being held?

At our own building, The Freedom Centre, 1 Howard Avenue. Barnstaple, Devon EX32 8QA, UK (see map).
During intensives we will be using designated areas of the Centre but other parts of the building will be open to the public as usual.

What is the best way of getting there?

By road:

SatNav: enter our postcode: EX32 8QA

The Freedom Centre is situated on the eastern outskirts of Barnstaple.
Download or view directions here.

By rail:

There is a railway station in Barnstaple, about 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre (about 25 minutes’ walk from the Freedom Centre).

If coming from London, the fastest trains depart from Paddington station. There are also trains from London Waterloo, but these are much slower. Wherever your point of departure, you will need to change trains at Exeter St. David’s for the trip along the picturesque Tarka Line branch to Barnstaple.

On arrival at Barnstaple you will probably wish to take a bus or taxi (both available at the railway station) to your accommodation or to the Freedom Centre.

[Note: You may wish to take the train to Tiverton Parkway and travel the 37 miles from there to Barnstaple by taxi. It is advisable to book the taxi in advance. This will normally be faster than changing trains at Exeter St. David’s but is likely to be more expensive.]

By bus or coach:

The local bus and National Express coach station is in the centre of Barnstaple, 15 minutes’ walk from the Freedom Centre.

Can I park at the venue?

Parking at the Freedom Centre is limited and we can only offer spaces to individuals who are registered disabled and have notified us of their need for a parking space when purchasing their event ticket.

There are two small public pay-and-display car parks wthin a few minutes walk of the Freedom Centre:

  • Congram’s Close EX32 9AN and
  • Portmarsh Lane EX32 9HY.

For those staying in the recommended hotels (see below), the best option will be to leave your car there and come to the Centre on foot.

Is accommodation available nearby?

We have arranged favourable rates with local hotel chain Brend Hotels. Please note that these rates are only available when booking direct with Brend Hotels central reservations team using the phone numbers or email address provided, and not with the hotels themselves or online. Rates vary according to the time of year. The relevant information for this event can be viewed or downloaded below:

Their nearest hotel is The Park Hotel (4 stars), about 11 minutes walk from the Freedom Centre. The Imperial Hotel (4 stars) and The Royal and Fortescue Hotel (3 stars) are a few minutes further away, but closer to the town centre. The Barnstaple Hotel (3 stars) is on the opposite side of town. Breakfast is included in the rates quoted and all Brend hotels have restaurants for your evening meals if required.

You may wish to consider Barnstaple Premier Inn (3 stars, national budget chain) instead. This is on the eastern edge of town, also about 11 minutes walk away from the Freedom Centre. There is a pub-style restaurant attached.

Or search for local hotels, bed and breakfasts or camping and caravanning on the internet.

Barnstaple is in a popular holiday area, so please make sure you book your accommodation promptly.

What meals will be served at the event?

Intensives – There will be a free lunch provided each day during the intensives with tea/coffee available during session breaks. Please notify us of any dietary requirements when booking. There are food outlets within walking distance of the Centre for your evening meal.

Can I bring my children?

No. We are sorry, the event is suitable for persons over the age of 16 years only and there will be no facilities available for children.

Will the intensive be livestreamed?

The intensive will not be livestreamed.

Will the event be recorded?

We may record parts of the intensive. If so, we will make any recordings available to attendees free of charge.
