Sophia Stel is a songwriter, producer, and guitarist at the vanguard of a new, post-Internet artistic movement. Raised in the Pacific Northwest alongside ten siblings (seven of which are adopted) in an intensely religious household, she left home after turning eighteen and moved into a skate house in Victoria. There, she spent her time working odd jobs to pay her bills, skating with her newfound community, and passing countless hours crafting beats in the house's basement studio. From this formative period emerged the beginnings of what would become her debut EP, Object Permanence. Largely self-written, produced, and recorded, the six-track project was released in 2024 and finds its roots in Stel's own autobiography, exploring themes of addiction, attachment, and the ability to find beauty in the mundane, even amongst life's everyday struggles. An extended deluxe version featuring underground sensation "I'll Take It" was released in 2025. Stel now lives in Vancouver, where she is currently recording her debut album.
