SOTL 8: Scholarship of Teaching Learning: How do you set about practitioner research?
This seminar has a dual focus:first, we will consider how to identify topics for practitioner research in the university, for example ATLEF projects and on the PG Cert module HET503; secondly, we will discuss the identification and application of "Threshold Concepts" within our own disciplines.
Our starting point will be discussion of the paper by Irvine, N. and Carmichael, P. 2009. “Threshold concepts: A point of focus for practitioner research”. Active Learning in Higher Education, 10, No.2, pp.103 – 119.
For all staff interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning but particularly those on the PGCert HET and those undertaking the Going for Gold CPD scheme. Please apply early to avoid disappointment as numbers are restricted
