SoulFood is a new project running workshops for families in community centres around the city to help people engage with food in a more positive way. It is the latest project for local charity Mothers Uncovered (www.mothersuncovered.com) and is a collaboration with local chef, mum and former Masterchef quarter-finalist Ingrid Wakeling.
We run workshops that deal with the main issues we face around food, whether it's budgeting, fussy kids or healthy eating. We provide a safe space for people to discuss their concerns, learn a few new tricks from a professional chef and, most importantly, have fun with cooking and eating.
We have secured some funding but really want to broaden the scope of what we offer and where so we are throwing a fundraiser on the 19th January at The Synergy Centre. It's going to be a really fun night with games, raffle and stalls and information from a variety of food projects around the city.
Your dish could be chosen to feature on the menu - just buy a ticket and send us your favourite food memory or recipe for us to consider.
For us food is about community and sharing, we really hope you can make it and come and share this wonderful evening with us.’
