About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

If you enjoy the Relaxation Sound Baths using Himalayan and Crystal bowls, and would like to try a different style of sound bath, you are invited to join me for this Drum Journey.

The Drum Journey Sound Bath has ancient roots used in many 21st century sound therapy methods. The frame drum (a type of shamanic drum) is played with a steady beat to encourage a feeling of self connection and self acceptance.

Some people fall asleep (quite okay to do), others remain awake yet feel something akin to lucid dreaming or deep meditation.

The session will also utilise the benefits of other therapeutic instruments such as the rainstick and gentle koshi chimes.

Modern science tells us that this style of playing a therapeutic drum brings about slow brain waves (e.g. theta, alpha) which happens without making conscious effort.

The benefits can be felt simply by listening and allowing yourself to be immersed in the sound, a natural process called entrainment.

The benefits of a Drum Journey are both physical and psychological, including; lowered blood pressure and heart rate, lowered cortisol/stress hormones.

It is called a 'journey' because we travel from our external world into our internal selves where we may experience visualisation, insight, awareness, creativity, and a deeper connection with ourselves.

No previous experience necessary. Bring your authentic self and an open heart to allow this ‘sonic massage’ to provide you with the time and space to just be.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket or two to make yourself a cosy nest to lie on.

I look forward to holding & sharing space with you, see you there!

(Please note that a Sound Bath is not recommended for those who experience seizures, or have a pacemaker / medical implant fitted. If you have an internal metal plate, you may experience some resonance. I am not insured to provide sessions for those in the first semester of pregnancy.)

Feedback from previous participants:

Just floated out of the most wonderful relaxing sound bath with Angie Garton.

That definitely felt like a journey within myself! I saw some colours and it just really felt like I went somewhere else.

My first one I’ve been too and we will defo be back again! I’ve been struggling a lot recently with feeling like I’ve been very disconnected from myself and the end instrument you used, almost felt like a chant. Felt like it was telling me to ‘come back to myself’.

Angie holds the space beautifully, a powerful and gentle ride into bliss state. I felt the tingles and relaxation wash over me. I will be hiring Angie at future events for sure. -Gill Kirkham

This was my second sound bath this year and I have to say Angie is incredible at what she does. Creating an environment of complete stillness, calm and peace is not easy. However Angie has such a chill vibe she puts you so effortlessly at ease and guides you through the whole process. I went in expecting to ease some tension and feel relaxed and i got that and more. My body went numb, its such a strange feeling, I wish I could bottle it as it would be amazing after a heavy gym session haha. Thank you Angie for such a wonderful experience. -Gary

I had never been to a sound Bath before, so did not know what to expect. Angie made us all feel super comfortable. And honestly the experience was like no other. It is something I will do again for sure and it was one of the highlights of the whole trip for me x -Sam Hill

I've experienced a sound bath before and loved it - it was quite energetic with a gong and the whole thing but very emotional. The relaxation sound bath I experienced with Angie was something totally new. I felt immersed in gratitude, safety, and love. I was able to rest and get out of my own head for a bit- a rarity for me. I especially loved the rain stick- it was so soothing! I'd recommend a sound bath to pretty much anyone who is willing to let themselves just exist for a while, who struggle to turn their brain off, and those who feel a deep connection with music and sound in general. -CiCi
