About this event
Wild Side is a female run organisation, with the sole aim of connecting you to nature.
Spend the day and overnight with us and the talented Ruth Summers (and like minded new friends) in our peaceful woodland located in West Sussex, just a 20 minute drive from Brighton and Hove.
Ruth Summers is the founder of Dao Natural Health founder and is an expert sound therapist, tai chi qigong instructor, musician, tutor at The British Academy of Sound Therapy and director at The International Therapeutic Sound Association. Ruth is passionate about empowering people to improve their own sense of health and well-being and is a lover of nature with a deep appreciation for the simple things in life.
Our experience will start at 2pm, meeting in the car park close Small Dole village hall (a detailed map will be sent to you closer to your arrival) with a walk into the woods, observing the wildlife as we go. Arrival at camp with tea and biscuits then time to set up your shelter (please bring your own tent/hammock/bivvi/tarp).
Our afternoon session will have you completely immersed in the beautiful sounds and tones of Gongs, Himalayan Singing Bowls, rainsticks and other therapeutic percussion instruments, allowing the sounds to wash over you whilst you lay and rest in our peaceful woodland, with cushions and blankets.
Therapeutic Sound Baths are proven to relax on a deeper level than other relaxation methods.Bringing calm to the body and mind, and helping brainwaves lower to levels that are similar to meditation or those experienced just before you fall asleep. The sound can induce a state of deep relaxation and allow you to rest there with the effect that cortisone (i.e. the stress hormone) reduces, blood pressure and heart rates are lowered, potassium & sodium levels in the body are rebalanced and cellular regeneration can take place which, in turn, helps our autonomic nervous system to restore.
Nestled around a campfire, you can enjoy our vegan-friendly hot supper, followed by our evening drum workshop. Group drumming is something everyone can do regardless of drumming or musical experience, it's about enjoying ourselves in rhythm together! All are welcome, even if you've never touched a drum before in your life! "If you have a heartbeat, you can drum!"
The Bamana people of Mali in West Africa are cited as being the creators of the Djembe drum. Djembe translates as "everyone gather together in peace" which is what we do at our drum circles, discovering the joys of creative expression, the sense of connection of playing in a group whilst finding our own natural rhythm that is inside each one of us.
Fall asleep to the sound of tawny owls and awake to the sound of bird song. Bring your own breakfast (fruit will be provided) to have around the campfire before we decamp and set off around 10am, to be back at the carpark for around 10.30am.
PLEASE NOTE CAMPING IS OPTIONAL. If you do not wish to camp, please add code ‘no camp’ in the checkout section for £10 discount.
We do not have a water source on site, so bring plenty. We have a compostable toilet but please bring a bag for any sanitary items.
Please feel free to bring your own snacks and alcohol (please limit the later due to health and safety in a woodland setting).
We cant wait to have you along!
