Event description

Description

Join us for Soundcamp at Stave HIll Ecological Park over the International Dawn Chorus Day weekend to share live sounds of daybreak together with installations, walks, workshops and discussions exploring urban ecologies and sound.

SC6 features three new commissions and activities for all ages, plus food, refreshments, conversations, coffee and a chance to camp in the Stave HIll Meadow and join a dawn walk on IDCD.

The Tent That Can Hear - Platform
A dilapidated structure emerges from storage to re-stage a series of public 'soundings' conducted by Platform artists at the Greenland Dock 30 years ago. Newly presented video from the Summer of 1989 will open a discussion with young artist activists from Voices that Shake.

Vision - Jessie Brennan
Jessie Brennan's new work for Stave Hill takes in the Ecological Park, the adjoining Russia Dock Woodland and London's financial district, among other landmarks, past and present. Archival materials point back and forwards - to ongoing negotiations about access, value and the status of the land amidst urban development.

Sounds Interrupted - Jessie Brennan with SC
Sounds of the Park transplanted to a ticket hall at London Bridge Station. A walk with Charlie Fox (Inspiral London) will link this piece to a pioneering history of urban ecology in North Southwark.

Reveil 6 - Soundcamp
Through the weekend, the 6th edition of Reveil will make a 24 hour loop of the earth at sunrise, broadcasting live sounds from a global network of soundcamps and streamers, relayed on some 20 FM and Net radio stations worldwide. Listen on site or via participating stations.

The Acoustic Commons
Roundtable discussion with Ella Finer.
