A new literary event in which established writers talk about their writing journeys and aspiring writers share their works in progress
About this event
Sounds About Write is an event that is all about sharing our words out loud. At each event, a visiting writer will share their experience of their writing journey and read/perform some of their work. After that , we're inviting you to share something that you're currently working from in front of our supportive audience. There's no expectation of perfection. If it sounds about right that's good enough for us!
Sounds About Write will be on the last Tuesday of the month and will be hosted downstairs by our neighbour Sheffield Plate in Orchard Square. This month, we have the amazing Rosie Garland.
If you'd like to join our community and get discounted tickets to this and other Writers Workshop events, find out more here.
If you'd like an open mic slot (5 mins of any kind of poetry or prose) email beverleywardwriter@gmail.com
About our guest artist
ROSIE GARLAND’s passion for language is nurtured by public libraries. She writes long and short fiction, poetry and sings with post-punk band The March Violets. Her latest collection What Girls Do In the Dark (Nine Arches Press) was shortlisted for the Polari Prize 2021, and her novel The Night Brother was described by The Times as “a delight ... with shades of Angela Carter.” Val McDermid has named her one of the most compelling LGBT+ writers in the UK today. http://www.rosiegarland.com/
