Event description

Description

NHS Tayside Speech and Language Therapy Service offers an informal information session to help answer questions which you may have about your child's (up to 6 years old) speech sound development:

- Am I doing the right things?

- What can I do to help?

- What have others tried?

- Where can I get help?

- What else could I try?

- Should I just wait and see?

- Will my child catch up?

This is for parents/carers of children aged up to 6 years old. Nursery and school staff may also find the information helpful.

What to expect at the session:

- Information about your role in supporting speech sound development

- Information about typical speech development

- Strategies to use during daily activities and to make communication more fun

This session may not be as useful for you if your child is only having difficulty putting words together into sentences but their words sound clear.

This session may not be as useful if you are concerned with your child's social communication e.g. poor eye contact, repetitive play, or if they have a known diagnosis such as Autism. However all parents are welcome to attend.

The session will last approximately 1 hour 30 mins and you will have the opportunity to speak with a Speech and Language Therapist.

Please note, these small group information sessions are for adults only and your child should not attend.

If you have any additional questions please telephone the department on 01382 346550.

We look forward to seeing you there.
