Jords’ debut album, ‘Means to an Ends’, is an abstract look into the Thornton Heath MC’s life and a story of introspection. Throughout the album, he speaks of different events and aspects of his life over beautiful production, with a variety of different instruments that gives it a more professional feel. For example, to have an artist like Jordan Rakei on the brilliant ‘The Drive’, shows that he wasn’t going for the typical UK MC mixtape feel, but a more sophisticated project.
Having released a lo-fi DIY EP early in 2015, back when it was just George Godwin and Peter Martin, Grapefruit Moon are now a four-piece band, also enlisting the help of sound engineer Jay Pocknell. We have recently been gifted with the release of their debut singles ‘Cotton Blue’ and ‘For A Lemon’, both utterly ambitious in sound but also full of spine tingling beauty that will immediately make them a band you want to hear much more of
Back for his hatrick appearance at Souterrain, we cant get enough of this guy. Hertfordshire-based singer-songwriter Petrie has taken a rather considered approach to his output this year, tweaking and perfecting his electronic-tinged pop-R&B sound. His latest single, "To Swim", is a splintered alt-pop slice of magic, co-written and produced by the artist himself—alongside his best mate Better Laurence.
