Event description

Description

Community Waltham Forest is the new organisation working to support and strengthen the local voluntary and community sector, volunteers, social enterprises and community action in Waltham Forest. Our vision is a very simple, but important one. We want Waltham Forest communities to have the ability and opportunities to fulfil and exceed their potential. We are offering a range of advice, support and training to enable this.

We would like to offer to support the organisations and groups of South Chingford by organising a local network that supports you:

> An opportunity to meet and learn about other local organisations and groups

> Support with volunteering

> Group learning and information sharing opportunities

> Information from CWF about funding opportunities and public policy

> Training and support from CWF

> Local quarterly meetings, with agenda content based on your needs

We will work with your Local Area Co-ordinator, Alison Gordon, to support your work.

Interested? Please come along on 28th September. If you are unable to attend in the evening, please get in touch because we can arrange to meet you at a local venue during the same day or on 21st September; we can also make sure that you are on the email list for future events. You can contact Alison Griffin at Community Waltham Forest on 020 3893 9794 or alison@communitywalthamforest.org.

To find out more about Community Waltham Forest, become a member (it's free) and join our email list, visit www.communitywalthamforest.org or email hello@communitywalthamforest.org.

Want to know more about Local Area Co-ordination? Come along and meet your Local Area Co-ordinator at the event.

In short, Local Area Co-ordination is a proven way of supporting people with disabilities, mental health needs, older people and their families and carers helping to:

  • Stay strong, safe and connected as citizens
  • Build and pursue their personal vision for a good life
  • Find practical, non-service solutions to problems wherever possible
  • Build more welcoming, inclusive and supportive communities

Your local area coordinator will:

  • Take time to get to know you and build a trusting relationship
  • Help you access relevant information, advice and support at the right time
  • Help you identify and develop strengths, skills, talents and abilities
  • Assist you in building, developing and using personal and local networks
  • Find practical ways to resolve problems
