Relationship based practice: "Every interaction is an intervention".

Channels and Choices Therapeutic Community presents the second SETCC (South East Therapeutic Childcare Conference) with keynote speakers Dr Karen Treisman MBE and Professor David Shemmings, OBE, PhD.

Attend this event on Tuesday 24th September and you can benefit from the knowledge and experience of two of the industry's most well known and respected practitioners. This event is aimed at social care practitioners who want to learn real life applicable strategies for working with attachment trauma in children.

The conference will be held in the Darwin Suite at The University of Kent at Canterbury. The day will be split into two parts following a brief introduction and welcome from Ross Barnett, experienced social worker and Director of Channels and Choices.

Dr Karen Treisman MBE is an award winning Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, organisational consultant, and trauma specialist. She'll be exploring the use of direct tools and the creative ways of talking about and expressing feelings. She'll also be talking about "Every interaction is an intervention"- examples of how small things can make a difference.

Professor David Shemmings, OBE, PhD is Emeritus Professor of Child Protection Research at the University of Kent and Visiting Professor at Royal Holloway College, University of London. He will be talking about what the 'science of relationships' can begin to tell us about what is really meant by 'relationship-based practice'.

There will be complimentary tea, coffee and pastries when you arrive, a buffet style lunch and tea and coffee in the afternoon.

Each delegate will receive a certificate of attendance at this conference which can be used for continuing personal development (CPD) with social work England and other regulators or membership organisations.
