South London Back Pain Forum
Fri 21 April 2017, 10:00 – 13:00 BST
Do you have an interest in back pain? Or are you working with patients with back pain?
If so, please save the date for the first South London back pain forum, to be held on Friday 21st April, 10.00 – 1.00. This follows on from the STarT Back event in December 2016 which identified an interest from participants in having a regular in-person information sharing forum.
As you may know, over 70% of the population will experience a significant episode of back pain during their lives. Back pain is the most common reason why middle-aged people visit their GP, with one in 12 adults presenting each year with this complaint, representing an estimated annual cost to the NHS of £4.2 billion, and back pain is the second most common reason for sickness absence from work, for persistent disability among adults under 65 and for work-loss among the same group.
Rachel King from KCL has kindly agreed to attend and talk about her work with NHS England. Rachel will discuss organizing a regional spinal network in line with best practice and national guidance and her work on redesigning the referral process for non-emergency Spinal conditions as well as the barriers and opportunities that this project has presented.
Please join us, come along and share your ideas and be a part of a group that is keen to collaborate and explore possible solutions to face this challenge!
The forum will begin at 10.00 am and lunch will be available from 1.00pm.
Please register to attend, and stay tuned for the full agenda- coming soon!
