Do you want to learn how to identfiy mushrooms and trees and / or share your ID skills with others?Then this event is for you.
With the mushrooms season in full swing, we are holding a mushroom identification session. South London Mushroom Club members have gone on a forage and collected lots of mushrooms and we brought them back to London. If you have any mushrooms you'd like to identify, please bring them along. In this session, we will look at how to identify mushrooms and try and identify as many of the collected mushrooms as possible.
Mushroom identification can initially seem overwhelming due to the sheer variety of mushroom species. We will learn about the features to look out for and compare the collected specimens with field guides and mushroom identification books. We'll look at how to distinguish different fungi families, genera and species.
Hopefully, we'll also have some beginner-friendly species such as chanterelles, penny buns, bay boletes, amethyst deceivers, hedgehog fungus or winter chanterelles to help you on your mushroom foraging journey.
All levels of experience, knowledge regarding fungi welcome. In fact, everyone is welcome. The South London Mushroom Club Events are always donation based and you can give as much as you can afford.
The suggested donation is £10 to support the mushroom club; £5 to cover the costs of room hire, refreshments and snacks.and less if you cannot afford either of those.
