WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
Big Do is one of the area’s largest cross sector networking event of 2016 bringing together business, community and public sector organisations in South Ribble for a huge networking-fest of a Big Do.
You will be able to find out about what South Ribble Partnership has been upto as well as telling us what we 'can' do to make the area a better place for residents, visitors and businesses. We have a number of themed workshops in which you can help shape the future by getting stuck in to some of the big questions being faced by South Ribble.
We also have a number of information stands about our projects; you will be able to find out what they are doing and even how you can get involved!
At the end of the evening, we will be taking a little time to recognise the huge contribution, indvidiuals, community groups and businesses make to South Ribble and saying 'THANK YOU'
We will keep you fed and watered and hope that you will have a great evening, making new connections for your organisation and hopefully sprouting new ideas and intiatives to improve the Borough for everyone.

WORKSHOP 1: LET’S CONNECT
Led by Maria Desmond MBE, Business in the Community Connector
Mutual benefit can be found for both businesses and the charity sector in sharing expertise, skills and practises.
Are you interested in finding out how you can engage with local charities or vice versa with local businesses?
- What time, skills and or expertise do you offer?
- Is there anything stopping you from sharing?
- What benefit would you want from an exchange of skills and time?
WORKSHOP 2: FUTURAMA; BUILDING OUR FUTURE
Led by Howerd Booth, Community Works Manager - South Ribble Borough Council
The Ultimate gameshow where you could win millions
City Deal could be the opportunity of a lifetime. It has already started to transform South Ribble. More homes, more businesses, more people and the opportunity of new resources. City Deal could provide over £7million of community improvements in South Ribble. We don’t want to gamble on this. We want to ‘play’ our cards right.
The workshop/gameshow/adventure into the future looks at;
- How you might invest a million?
- What are your ideas, plans and issues?
- Where opportunity knocks?
WORKSHOP 3: YELLOW BRICK ROAD - THE RIGHT PATH TO TAKE
Led by Iain Pearson, Executive Director – All Age Services, Age Concern Central Lancashire
Early help and prevention has a huge role in enabling people to maintain their health and wellbeing. Changes to services and ever tighter budgets can have an impact on the level of intervention and early help that can be given. Against the backdrop of change we would like to know;
- Has your organisation felt the impact ‘austerity’
- Has there been an impact on early intervention and prevention here in South Ribble
- What can be done to ensure prevention and its benefits are not lost
