South Wales Cyber Security Cluster Meeting April 2017
Tue 18 April 2017, 14:00 – 16:00 BST
Our April meeting will be hosted by Cardiff and Vale College. Having visited the National Cyber Security Academy and the Computer Forensic Labs of the University of South Wales, we have learnt a lot about under-graduate and post-graduate degree courses in IT but this is not the only source of skilled and motivated people to fill the skills gap in our industry - College students are studying Diploma courses in IT Networking & System Support and Software Development.
CAVC is one of the largest colleges in the country – transforming education and training across the capital region of Wales. They have over 20,000 students each year and a large staff team of industry experts, sector specialists and knowledgeable and experienced support teams. CAVC are teaching people in top class industry facilities and centres of excellence across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan; in the community and in workplaces across the region, Wales and the world. Their work with employers is award winning and continuing to grow at pace. They were named Wales Business Insider ‘College of the Year’ for the second consecutive year for partnerships with employers and were also recognised for leading work in People Development in 2015.
We are going to be hosted in the brand new City Centre Campus, a landmark new build, 5 minutes from the train station, opened officially by the First Minister in October.
