Event description

Description

We have an unusual Cluster meeting this month...

Our guest speaker is our favourite person from NCSC and we will be getting a State-of-the-Nation update on the National Cyber Security Strategy, programmes and initiatives as well as some feedback on how things are going in the "Mothership".

Another very compelling reason for the visit from NCSC however is to make a formal announcement about the fact that CyberUK, NCSC's flagship event, which has been run in Liverpool, Manchester & Glasgow will be coming to Wales in 2020!

This is a fantastic opportunity for us all to showcase all of the great cyber work that goes on in Wales and it would be great if we could come up with some ideas for how we could do that between now and the event in April.

There will be a photo shoot at the Senedd with some Welsh Government ministers to mark the occasion before the Cluster meeting so to give the key people a chance to stroll across to the venue for the meeting itself, we will be starting at 14:30 rather than the normal time of 14:00.

The venue is Techniquest and we are delighted to be running the Cluster meeting in this fantastic building for the first time.

Techniquest is the UK’s longest established science centre, founded in 1986 opposite Cardiff Castle. In 1995 it moved to its current site, the UK’s first purpose-built science centre, in Cardiff Bay in a building that was formerly a heavy engineering plant. They are an educational charity and their mission is to embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement. They provide a range of services to schools and teachers to complement formal education provision in Wales and work extensively with public audiences. There is also a sister-charity in Wrexam Glyndwr University in North Wales.

We will be welcomed at 14:30 to some refreshments on the Waterfront Balcony and then move to the Science Theatre for some talks and updates.

Timings for the activities at the Senedd are fluid so please feel free to just pop along to the Techniquest at 14:30 for the main part of the meeting if you don't fancy milling around in the Bay.

See you all there!
