Description

Abstract

This workshop will provide a background on visual, participatory and creative techniques for working with children and young people in research projects and in practice. The workshop will present and discuss a range of studies in different contexts, and offer practical hands-on activities to try out different methods for generating visual forms of data, and conducting elicitation interviews. The opportunities and limitations of participatory approaches will be considered and the workshop will introduce a number of techniques of creative data production including drawing, collage, sandboxing, emotion stickers, photoeliciation, and artefacts. The workshop will invite you to interrogate the usefulness of creative approaches and explore how they could be applied in your own work with children and young people.
