South Wales Property Meet ~ rub shoulders with fellow property investors
Thu 23 March 2017, 18:30 – 21:00 GMT
Our South Wales Property meet is a fantastic networking event for property investors, property professionals and those looking to get started in property investment. Whether you are a seasoned investor or just looking to get started, everyone is very welcome to come along and rub shoulders with like minded people and listen to our expert speakers.
For our March meeting we have our usual line up of two expert guest speakers as well as an introduction from Howard Bowes, host of th emeeting.
The headline speaker is Jim Haliburton, also known as the HMO Daddy.
Jim has been investing in HMO properties since 1983 when he lectured in law. Realising that some students might benefit from good accommodation, he purchased a house in the West Midlands and converted it to what is now known a a HMO. He still owns that first property and currently 150 (and growing), are controlled by Jim.
The HMO Daddy letting company employs 20+ staff and manages 1000 tenants of all socio-economic groups.
Jim is a prolific author of property manuals and comprehensive guides covering most, if not all of the aspects of owning and running HMO's. Keen to share his experiences (the good and the not so good one's), he and the team run courses and mentorship options for current HMO owners and anyone thinking of owning one or two.
We also have representation from Cambridge & Counties Bank, with both Nigel Key and Paul Howard from the banktalking about how they structure HMO and Serviceds Accommodation deals. With a wealth of knowledge in the industry, the duo will present top funding tips and provide an excellent insight into one of the most forward thinking commercial banks of the past decade. In a world of automation and the well known 'computer says no' approach employed many banks, the bespoke and humanl underwriting offered by CCB is a refrshing alternative to funding commercial deals.
The formal meeting will open with Howard Bowes, host of the meeting, property investor and MD of Harvey Bowes Limited highlighting some of the key changes in the money markets and will present a case study of a recent interesting office-to-HMO conversion, funded on a refurnishment deal with finance raised towards the works as well as the purchase.

The South Wales Property Meet is an independent meeting of property professionals and investors. We meet once a month (with the exception of December) and have expert guest speakers who share their property related expertise. Members and visitors are very welcome. Attendees arrive around 6:30pm for informal networking and we sit down to listen to the speakers at 7pm prompt. Their is a short comfort break between speakers and the meeting finishes at 9:15pm. The last 20 minutes being a question and answer session with the expert property panel. Some of our members and guests take off shortly after the end of the meeting due to other committments and some stay for a while at the bar to network further. Typically, the meeting is attended by property investors (both seasoned and new investors) as well as property professionals and trades, such as Electricans, Building Contractors, Conveyancing Solicitors and others - which makes it the 'go too' meeting to rub shoulders with like minded people, to glean top tips from the property experts and to build a property power team.
