Description

South West Fed Spring Forum: Learning & Engagement on a Shoestring

Discover how to develop learning and engagament strategies and programmes on a small budget, so that any museum or heritage organisation can provide meaningful educational opportunities to the public.

7 March 2019 10.00 – 16.00, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum (attendees can visit the museum)

About the event

This event, which is free for South West Fed members, will provide a unique opportunity to gain advice, ideas and practical solutions for providing learning and engagement opportunities on a small budget. Non-members can also attend for £30 (it may be cheaper to become a member - click here for more information).

Learning and engagement is integral to the heritage sector, and this event will help those who don't have huge amount of experience, or who may have funding expectations to do more in ways that they might not be used to. Attendees will find out how to develop education strategies and programmes that will help the public get the most out of their sites or collections.

Through a range of talks and workshops, you will gain practical tips to be able to create strategies and programmes and maximise learning and engagement opportunities. We're delighted to welcome GEM, who will be running a session on developing a learning and engagement strategy on a small budget and will bring a wealth of experience at knowledge to the day. As usual, there will be opportunities to network and to learn in groups.

“At the South West Fed, we understand that many museums, galleries and heritage sites have very small budgets to work from. This forum will help attendees uncover how they can still deliver the high quality educational programmes that they are passionate about. As with all our Forum events, I'm looking forward to seeing how people will be able to apply what they learn to their work in the south west heritage sector.” - Theo Platt, Meetings Secretary, South West Fed
