Event description
What does Net Zero mean for the South West - a local perspective

About this event

In order to meet our climate change targets the UK’s building industry needs radical change. Over the last year various organisations have produced guidance on this topic, this event brings together the work from UKGBC, RIBA and LETI that has been published in the last 12 months. This includes the UKGBC’s Zero carbon framework, the RIBA 2030 climate challenge and the LETI Climate Emergency Design guide. There will be quick fire presentations on the guidance and how they relate to each other.

A discussion will then follow the talks focusing on Net Zero in the South West, what the barriers and challenges are and how to overcome them. In order to facilitate this discussion we will send round a quick 10 min survey to those that sign up, to get feedback that can kick start these discussions.

This event is brought to you by LETI, RIBA, UKGBC, CIBSE and the Energy Hub.

Organiser LETI

Organiser of South West Net Zero- Collaborative action on climate change

The London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) is a network of over 1000 built environment professionals that are working together to put London on the path to a zero carbon future. The voluntary group is made up of developers, engineers, housing associations, architects, planners, academics, sustainability professionals, contractors and facilities managers, with support and input provided by the GLA and London boroughs. Elementa Consulting have initiated and coordinated LETI as they were frustrated that the current energy policy in London wasn’t driving design solutions that encouraged long term carbon emissions reduction. LETI was established to work collaboratively to put together evidence-based recommendations for two pieces of policy – the new London Environment Strategy and the rewrite of the London Plan.
