Description

Introduction to greening the urban environment using the newly developing Derriford Community Park based around Poole Farm and nearby Plymouth City Council Local Nature Reserve.

Showcasing the setting up a new environmental hub for the city of Plymouth and managing urban wildlife sites. Partnership working between Plymouth City Council, Devon Wildlife Trust and Duchy College.

Countryside, farm and urban greenspace management.

Guest speakers and leaders.

Morning session (Chris Avent PCC):

Countryside management within a city, setting up regular volunteer groups, Friends Groups, funding from new housing developments,

Opportunities for rewilding within a city environment.

Afternoon session (Tim Russell DWT):

Example of Active Neighbourhoods (Lottery Funded) partnership project between Devon Wildlife Trust and Plymouth City Council.

Health & Wellbeing from urban greenspace engagement.

Urban Ranger work across the city.


Tea & coffee on arrival. Bring own packed lunches.

Wet weather facility in large barn.
