Southam Book Festival was initially set up to support the work of the Graham Adams Community Centre, which is to promote the well-being of the people of our town. As fans of the written word, we decided to create the book festival, with a brief to support and promote local literary talent, particularly new and aspiring writers. Our focus is on providing a platform not only for local published authors but also for those nearer the start of their journey. Over the last few years this has expanded to support all the associated skills involved, so as well as authors, we have poets, illustrators, publishers, writing groups and even a bookbinder.

We are run by a group of local volunteers with a variety of skills. All monies raised by the festival go directly to the Centre, now known as the Southam Church And Community Project.

We have several events supporting the festival, so as well as exhibitors on the day, we curate an eclectic mix of speakers; a ‘Book in the Window’ competition in which local businesses decorate their windows on a book theme; a themed 100 word short story competition; a literary quiz on the day, a book cover design competition for children; a raffle and of course a WI-powered café.
