Event description
Southampton City Farm is happy to announce we are opening our gates again to public visits again!

About this event

The animals have been bathed and the barn has been scrubbed... The farm is back!

We have been working closely with Oasis to bring you the weekend visits! We are delighted to announce that we are opening our gates to public visits again, with slots open every Saturday and Sunday.

Although the magic of the farm is very much still there, we will be working things a little differently to normal. Instead of walk-ins, we have set up a ticketed event to schedule visits to make the new one way system around the farm as safe as possible. This will also make it easier to socially distance on the route around the farm, and gives you more time to say hello to our cheeky ducklings and meet our friendly lambs up close!

We are open between the new hours of 11-3, and will be opening slots every 30 minutes to allow for social distancing rules to be easily followed.

The tickets are purely used to reserve that time slot, with 15 spaces every 30 minutes available. Normal farm donations on entry are still very much appreciated (£2 an adult and £1 a child over 2).

Once you have reserved that spot and received your E-ticket, come to the farm at that allocated time, show us a copy of the ticket, pay the normal entry donation, and then follow the 1 way system around the farm and enjoy escaping from reality by seeing all of our amazing animals again.

Please see below a few guidance points, in line with the governments covid-19 recommendations:

  • We do ask that all social distancing rules are kept to on the farm, tape and signage are in place to make the guidance easier to follow.
  • Please expect a small queue on entry, so please stand 2 metres apart.
  • We will be unable to carry out animal handling, this is to keep both our animals and volunteers safe, as well as the public.
  • Wash stations are available to ensure hand hygiene is kept to a high standard. Please wash your hands on entry to the farm and when you leave, and use our Cleaning Stations when walking round the farm.
  • Card payments on arrival are recommended and preferred to ensure quick entry and reduce cash handling, although we are still accepting cash donations.
  • We have a stricter cleaning schedule than usual, and we have put these procedures in place to keep both the team and you, the public, as safe as possible.
  • Toilets are available, outdoor picnic benches are available and the Small Animals room (inside) will be open to one 'social bubble' group at a time.
  • Please continue to be your wonderful selves and be respectful when using these facilities and do not enter these areas if they are busy.
  • Face masks are now mandatory in the building at all times, and optional outside on the farm.
  • Please do not enter the farm site if you or anyone you've been in contact with have developed Covid symptoms.

Our new-look Farm shop is now open and farm items can be purchased on entry or exit. These new products are sourced from the local community, as well as hand crafted by our additional needs groups.

Covid-19 is a completely new challenge to how we work, so thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity and patience.

Please do provide helpful feedback to let us know what we are doing well and what we could do to improve the experience for all, whilst complying with national guidelines.
