Southampton In Conversation: a Culture City fringe event
Event Information
Description
IN CONVERSATION WITH OURSELVES: Conversations with people actively involved in creative projects in Southampton, celebrating and shining a light on our artistic and cultural talent.
Come along to our evening on 9 June 2016:
IN CONVERSATION WITH: Don John & Sarah Filmer
As an independently-organised fringe event to Culture City, Supporting a Creative Southampton (link to tickets below), Dangerous Ideas Southampton invites you to an evening with two fascinating, creative local people sharing their perspectives on Southampton as a place for culture.
In conversation with Catherine Wright, Don John & Sarah Filmer will talk about how they see our City as a place for art and artists. Reflecting on the last twenty years of work, their perspectives will shine a light on the vibrant cultural life that already thrives here, as well as issues that may be holding us back.
Mixed with questions from the audience, this promises to be an intriguing, entertaining and thought provoking evening.
There will also be a chance for attendees enjoy a drink together and share ideas about creative talent in the city.
Don John - Don was the founder and co ordinator of Black History Month in Southampton over more than 20 years. The event has been co-cordinated by Catherine Wright, Angela Chicken and Rebecca Kinge for Dangerous Ideas Southampton, an informal and organic network of people in Southampton who care about issues such as fairness, sustainability and creativity in the city.
The photo on our poster is of Southampton's Hobgoblin Music Shop window at the East Street Arts Festival 2015, where Sarah Filmer asked "What does music mean to you?" and people drew their response on the glass. The photo was taken by Mike.
