Come and celebrate all things science with us in a delightful evening of science-themed stand-up comedy, stories, and silliness from some of Southampton’s funniest and nerdiest people.
October marks the anniversary of the patenting of the transistor, the electronic device that replaced vacuum tubes in early computers because it was smaller, cheaper and more reliable - like when Chris Evans replaced Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. Also, in October 1933 Albert Einstein fled Germany to the USA because of the Nazi takeover of his home country, in what hindsight reveals to be an unfortunate "frying pan, fire" relocation.
In much happier news, this month we welcome Farah Sharp, an ex-data engineer, with a STEM background that spills into her comedy in the form of a string of (analytical) breakdowns, often complete with charts and formulae. She will be joined on stage by new comedians from the University of Southampton, showing off the funny side of their lives as researchers and educators.
Doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 7:30pm. The venue is unlicensed, so Bring Your Own Bottles (BYOB), but it's also a bookshop so come prepared to Buy Your Own Books! Have a browse, have a bevvy and have a laugh.
