Join us for a delightful May evening of science-themed stand-up comedy, stories, and silliness from some of Southampton’s funniest and nerdiest people.
This month our guests are MERRY MARTYN and JOE MAYO, who will be previewing their new show "Nerd Mentality". Merry (host of the "Let's Get Mean! The Average Game Show", winner of Queerovision '22 and semi-finalist of West End New Act of the Year 2024) and Joe (writer & researcher on BBC's "QI" and as seen on David Mitchell's "Outsiders") invite you to come along to see this delightfully silly show based on fun facts, mad maths, and daft chats which is guaranteed graph-a-minute (on average). They are collecting data on YOU to prove that everyone has the capacity to be a NERD, whether you like numbers, letters, or even if you're neurotypical. If you spotted any of the three typos in this description, this is the show for you. Come join the dataset!
Also on stage will be new comedians from Southampton University, unwrapping the funny side of their lives as researchers and educators. They will be hosted by Professor Les Carr, a director of the University's Web Science Institute and standup comedian.
Doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 7:30pm. The venue is unlicensed, so Bring Your Own Bottles (BYOB), but it's also a bookshop so come prepared to Buy Your Own Books! Have a browse, have a bevvy and have a laugh.
