Held over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, in a magnificent hotel overlooking the town's world famous pier, the Southend Film Festival is Essex's largest, presenting over 30 films and events during a packed five days. The fun starts at the Odeon, with the star-studded, red carpet Opening Gala screening of brand new thriller London Heist, and ends five days later with the Closing Gala, Under the Radar, the Mike Edmonds Story. Both are World Premieres, and stars Craig Fairbrass and Mike Edmonds will be joined by a host of guests for these prestigious Gala screenings. In between, the accent is on British independent productions, with short films from the UK supporting many home-grown features, although there is also the usual mix of classics, documentaries, World Cinema and audience favourites.
