Southern regional Street Pastor Training is open to anyone who has been accepted onto training by a local Street Pastor initiative Coordinator after submitting an application form, confidential self declaration form and 2 references, and having had an interview.
We strongly recommend you complete an observation in your chosen area before attending training.
We welcome people from all parts of the country and generally have several different areas represented. You will get to meet different people and everyone who does the training says they have great times of fellowship, time flies by and the food is good! We all chip in and help out and enjoy each others in put. Some people will be there to do all of the training and some will attend to catch up sessions they have previously missed. Just ensure when you book in, you are clear about what you are attending.
We have a variety of different subjects to be covered. There is no test or written requirement, just come and listen and take part in a relaxed atmosphere of fun learning. We provide notes and a guide to the training with all you need to know in it, i.e. who to contact, what happens next etc.
We try and do our training over 3 weekends. This sounds hard but we have found people get through it very fast and benefit from it. No one has requested it be changed, we are always open to feedback.
Attending all sessions in mandatory. If you cannot make a session you will be required to catch it up and this may delay you in graduating and being commissioned, and you may have to travel a long way to get the session you need. We will always try and accommodate where we can but it is not always possible.
The dates and times are:
Friday, 14 October 2016 (19:00 to 21:30) / Saturday, 15 October 2016 (09:30 to 16:30) / Sunday, 16 October 2016 (09:30 to 16:30) - venue Sat/Sun Isle of Wight
Friday 18 November 2016 (19:00 to 21:30) / Saturday, 19 November 2016 (09:30 to 16:30) / Sunday, 20 November 2016 (09:30 to 16:30) - venue Sat/Sun Southampton
We try and vary venues in the Solent region. This year we are delighted to be able to host the first weekend training on the Isle of Wight on 15/16 Oct and thanks to the IOW Street Pastors free accommodation has been offered to those who want to stay overnight. We are planning a meal and good evening on the Saturday night and want to make this a brilliant first weekend. People are welcome to just travel in each day. Your Coordinator will be able to talk more about this with you.
The second weekend will take place at Gunwharf Quays - always great for a bit of lunchtime shopping! And the third weekend in Southampton (there's not much I can add here! Except they have parking!!)
If you have more questions please contact your Coordinator.
Thanks so much,
Mandy Harding on behalf of Regional Coordinators
