Event Details

Southern Rocks 2018 or #srocks18 is taking shape. Our "teachers for teachers" conference themes has an all-through focus and highlights some of the key questions around meeting the needs of all learners. We have four conference strands, Teaching, Thinking, Learning and Assessment, three amazing keynote speakers and 30+ teacher led sessions for you to look forward to. To keep you happy, our CHO (Chief Happiness Officer) has a number of "Golden Tickets" to issue; prizes include top title, signed education books, HD Ipevo visualisers, Discover the World neck buffs, £200 Discover the World trip voucher and priority VIP priviledges.

We hear you. We know that the conversation around the sessions is as important as the sessions themselves - sessions transitions are purposefully generous. We have an evening event pencilled in for Friday night, a Full English breakfast for just £5 at our local Hotel (for those of you with an early start on Saturday morning) and post event social.

Catering plans are well under way. Arrival refreshments and a range of lunch options are being planned. More on that to follow nearer the time.

We have the ice-cream van-man pencilled in for the date, though we're not sure how well that will work in early February, however David Rogers assures me "teachers love ice-cream."

Your ticket gets you 3 keynotes, 4 teacher led sessions, 8 months of TripticoPlus (value £10) where you can build and exchange learning resources with a global Triptico community. We have more prizes and goodies to keep you happy and one lucky delegate with leave with a teachers visit to Iceland! And of course, a visit to the ice-cream van.

Sessions will be available for you to peruse, with session resources and conversations made available in advance via Canvas LMS - our conference learning platform.

The venue, Hindhead Campus, can comfortably host 250 delegates, with 10 break out rooms. We are working with local B&Bs and hotels to secure excellent over night accommodation rates on your behalf (to releasd w/c 13th November). Details of these will be emailed to you when confirmed. We have booked parking support. We welcome offers of support and are working on volunteers to offer transport to and from our local train station.

Our Student Leadership Team here at Hindhead Campus are looking forward to welcoming you.

You can reach David and I via our work email or for general conversations via social media - we plan to take all enquiries for via srocks18@focus-school.com

We are really keen to extend our reach beyond social media, so do mention the conference to your colleagues over a cuppa in the staffroom or during staff brieing.
