Event description

Description

Kicking off out Heritage Lottery Funded project Soutra: Surgery & Superstition, join Surgeons' Hall Museums' Human Remains Conservator, Cat Irving, for an intimate talk on disease in the Middle Ages.

Cat will discuss common early diseases, associated superstitions and the slightly suspicious treatments. Get up close to specimens that displayed similar symptoms, learn about how medieval communities treated those with disease and hear what mind boggling cures were proposed!

This talk is part of our #TwoPoundTalk series and takes place in the Anatomy Lab in our Museums. The talk lasts one hour and all tickets grant access to the Museums until 9pm.

Soutra: Surgery & Superstition is an HLF funded Stories, Stones & Bones programme developed in collaboration with DigIt!2017, TRACS and Mercat Tours as part of #HHA2017

Talk starts at 7pm, doors open 6.30pm.

Museum Access until 9pm.
