Join STEM Learning in York for an event for children of all ages and families.
FAMILY SPACE DAY is brought to you by STEM Learning and the UK Space Education Office (ESERO-UK), in partnership with the Royal Institution. It stars TWO exclusive and exciting FREE in-person events - one in the AFTERNOON and one early EVENING. Each is tailored to specific ages, both explore the wonders of space and science with an astronaut, space presenters and activities.
FAMILY SPACE DAY (In-Person Afternoon Event: 13.30 - 16.00)
Designed for children of all ages and their families:
Meet an astronaut from the European Space Agency - UK astronaut, Meganne Christian will share stories of the training and space missions on the horizon!
Take part in your own astronaut training - discover Mission X school challenges and train for your own mission.
Land on space activities - build and launch paper rockets and run space chemistry experiments.
Learn about International Space Station computer coding - join Astro-Pi coding workshops.
Meet space presenters and scientists - find out what you have always wanted to know about space and other worlds.
Register* for FAMILY SPACE DAY (Afternoon Event) via the reserve button on the right and land at the National STEM Centre on Saturday 13th December!
*Each booking must be made by an adult who will be responsible for their group at the event.
*When you register, you'll fill out a single form indicating how many people are in your group and their ages. Please note that only one registration is required per group, not for each individual participant.

For students aged 11 and above, and their families - starring astronauts, space presenters and beaming over to live filming in London of the iconic CHRISTMAS LECTURES® from the Royal Institution presented by Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock!
We’re delighted to be an official livestream venue for this year’s CHRISTMAS LECTURES® from the Royal Institution!

USE OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND DATA FOR THE EVENT
Photography and filming at the Event
STEM Learning will be taking photographs and video filming during the event. These images may be used to promote the event and STEM Learning’s wider activities through STEM Learning’s official social media channels, internal communications, STEM Learning publications and website (www.stem.org.uk).
We want to ensure you are fully informed about how these images may be used. Please be informed:
All images will be stored and used in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and relevant UK legislation. You can view our Privacy Policy here.
STEM Learning will hold the copyright for any images or video recordings taken.
You have the right to request that we stop using your child’s images at any time. To do so, please contact our Data Protection Officer at: marketing@stem.org.uk. We will act in line with our Right to Erasure Policy.
Full details and consent/opt out forms will be available at the event registration desk on the day.

This privacy notice explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you complete the registration form.
What information we need:
In order to process your data to enable us to plan FAMILY SPACE DAY events we need:
- your name
- your email address
- acceptance of your role as lead adult for your booking
- number (and age group) of young people and adults joining you for the event
- your postcode.
Why we need it:
We need to know this data in order to:
- contact you with updates about FAMILY SPACE DAY events
- plan the events to suit the audience
- share details of how to join the event
- contact you via an email with information about future FAMILY SPACE DAY events when they are planned.
We will only collect personal data required to provide and oversee this service to you. You will not automatically receive marketing emails about other STEM Learning educational products and services, if you would like to receive these please sign up on our website.
What we do with it:
Your personal data will be shared with those involved in running FAMILY SPACE DAY events at ESERO-UK/STEM Learning.
We have systems in place to ensure secure processing of your personal data by ourselves and anyone whom it is shared with. All the personal data we process is done so by our staff in the UK however information may be hosted in the US.
How long we keep it:
The information collected from this survey will be destroyed after 2 years.
What your rights are:
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email or write to us. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
