About this Event

🌌📷 Peter Jenkins FRAS: Astrophotography - Capture and Processing Deep Sky Images

Peter Jenkins is an astrophotographer and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. His images have been published in BBC Sky at Night, Astronomy Now, Sky & Telescope and Astronomy Magazines. NASA announced one of his pictures as "NASA Astronomy picture of the day" in 2017 and was a lecturer at the International Astronomy Show 2018 and 2019!

❄️⚫ Dr. Julian Onions FRAS: Cold dark matter - is it cold, is it dark and is it matter? We hear a lot about dark matter in astronomy. Some people consider it a fudge. In this talk we'll go through the evidence for dark matter and the history of it, and answer the questions in the title.

Julian Onions is a Dr in astrophysics, fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and programmer. He is an academic staff at the University of Nottingham/School of Physics and Astronomy and is interested in communicating astronomy with the public, galaxy formation and cosmology/dark matter.

🚀🍯 Additionally, our UKSEDS rocketry competition team "The Honey Badgers" will present their model rocket: The Big OOF!

The event is free for everyone, so feel free to also invite your friends and colleagues! We will provide donation boxes - the donations will go to charities of the speakers' choices!

Please come some minutes early, we want to start on time.

The event will take place in Loughborough University, the room will be announced soon.

We hope to see many of you there!!!
