Event description

Description

As the cold and dark nights get colder and darker, lets make the most of amazing astronomy and indoor science evenings!

Join us for an evening dedicated to astronauts, aliens, astronomy and real rocket science.

We will help you explore the universe, put you through your paces in astronaut training and finish your evening with some live stargazing (weather dependent).

Guest Talks

Tori Tasker, National Space Centre
Travelling to Space
Join our Space Communications team for an exciting and explosive show as we launch a few rockets and explore why astronauts venture into space. Take a look at the powerful forces and fiery vehicles that launch humans into space and see for yourself if you have what it takes to get to space and return safely to Earth.
18:30 – LIVE Space

Dr Martin Archer, Queen Mary University of London
SSFX Short Films
Alien may have told you “In space no one can hear you scream” but it was wrong!
The SSFX (Space Sound Effects) project has challenged independent filmmakers from around the world to create short films incorporating a series of strange sounds from space recorded by satellites. The results are a collection of films, spanning a wide array of topics and genres, connected only by these sounds. Watch some of the highly creative works and hear from the scientists and filmmakers involved.
