Space To Think- Commissioning the Third Sector in Sheffield with Cllr Jack...
Wed 22 March 2017, 09:30 – 11:00 GMT
At our next Space to Think event on 22 March, Councillor Jack Scott will speak about his ambition for re-focussing procurement and commissioning within the Council, as part of a push to get better recognition of the value the voluntary and community sector brings to the city.
Jack Scott was appointed Cabinet member for Community Services just over six months ago. He is committed to promoting a robust vision for the voluntary and community sector and give it a stronger voice across the Council. A paper is due at Cabinet in April, aiming to increase the sector's value and recognition within the city.
In particular, the Council is proposing to bring forward proposals around commissioning and procurement, ensuring that the Council give a fair and level playing field to the voluntary sector in the city, and consistently recognise the social value that it generates. It’s about ensuring a proportionate approach to procurement and commissioning, and making sure that partnership approaches are encouraged.
This is an opportunity to hear more about the Council's ambitions in this area, and - perhaps more importantly perhaps - to influence the proposals as they take shape.
Come along to contribute your thoughts on what would make a difference, and influence the commissioning landscape.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so please book early.
